OSIACA News
Brothers and Sisters,
I would like to bring to everyone’s attention that we have four lodges in Northern California celebrating their 100th anniversary. They are the Weed Lodge #1269 on April 13th, Eureka Lodge #1274 on March 23rd, Camelia - Colombo Lodge #1294 in June and C. Colombo Lodge #1315 in August. This will be such a milestone for these lodges, so I hope you can set aside one or more of these dates and come join us in these historic accomplishments. You can check in your Il Leone Lodge directory and call the recording Secretary of that Lodge for more information. Looking forward to seeing you there!
In January, I attended the Roseville Lodge #1413 officers meeting. They discussed ways of making their dinners more interesting and appealing! They are really doing a great job at their dinners, and they came up with some new things to add to their already wonderful gatherings. They worked up the entire year’s themes for every meeting and talked about different fundraisers. My thoughts and prayers go out to their president Tom Tommasi who lost his sister in December.
On January 10th Sacramento Lodge #1352 had their Lasagna dinner and Bingo Night, everyone enjoyed themselves, even our state president Arlene Nunziati came and participated in the bingo and dinner. On January 27th Londi and I drove to Fairfield to attend Northern Solano Lodge #2534 Annual Crab Feed. The crab was “crab delicious”! I understand that the cannoli were out of this world too. If any of you get a chance to attend one of their dinners, they meet on the third Thursday of every month. The food is delicious, and you cannot beat the price because it’s FREE! That’s right, every meal is always free.
In closing I am looking forward towards 2024 as a growth year in the life of Sons and Daughters of Italy. A year where if you can “just ask” people around us to come to one of our fundraisers or monthly dinners and enjoy our food, our fun and camaraderie, plus our wonderful family of California Italians, I’m sure it will increase our membership by over 300 new Paisanos! I would like our members to start the new year out with a phone call to someone whom you have not talked to in a while. A friend, a family member or even someone you had a disagreement with and just ask them how they are doing, tell them you were just thinking about them and thought you’d give him or her a call. Let’s have a great 2024 and I will see you soon.
Ciao for now,
Louie Lodi
