OSIACA News
Greetings! As we enter the fall season, we hope you are enjoying cooler weather and good health. September was a quieter month. The Grand Council meeting was held in San Francisco and included a few voting items which I will post the results next month. I have been asked to participate in the Columbus Parade in San Francisco, so my wife and I are looking forward to enjoying this event on October 12th. We also will be joining the 98th Anniversary of the Enrico Caruso Lodge the day before. My goal is to attend a few of the Northern lodge’s meetings before the end of the year.
In a better effort to share my availability, I will establish a link to my calendar and publish in the next issue. Again, I am trying to make as many events as possible, but if I cannot and you would
Hello to October and Italian-American Heritage and Culture Month. It is wonderful to see all the Lodge activities scheduled across California and Nevada celebrating Columbus and Italian-American Heritage. What is your Lodge doing to celebrate our heritage this month?
Over the last month, I was able to attend a Napa Lodge Meeting, where they had 119 attendees! Lori and I secured all the food and paper products for Northern Solano’s Annual Gene Bruno Picnic on Saturday August 23rd. The picnic was held at the Fairfield Bocce Courts where the weather Gods blessed us with mild day. On Sunday the 24th Lori and I traveled to Sonoma for the Valley of the Moon’s, Ice Cream Social to raise funds for local scholarships. We met their new President Molly Caselli, Vicki Mulas, the new Recording Secretary and Walt Viviani, one of the new Trustees. We also
Congratulations go out to our Past Grand Lodge President, Lynn Lawrence Murphy for winning the Sellaro Award at the National Convention in Orlando. This is a very high honor and she is well deserving. From the first time I met her as a brand new President of my Lodge, she has always encouraged me to become a leader of our Order. She has always supported me in becoming a State Trustee, and now as State 3rd Vice President. She works very hard behind the scenes to organize Grand Lodge Meetings and Grand Lodge Conventions. Lynn, thank you for all you do for the Order.
As we are heading into the Fall months, the Officers of the South have been in touch with the Local Lodge Presidents. Each officer has been assigned a Lodge to visit. Grand Lodge Secretary,
The Cristoforo Columbo Lodge #1534 in Reno, Nevada hopes you have a wonderful L’autunno. Fall is in the air and soon the holidays will be upon us.
June was our scholarship meeting. We gave $3000 scholarships each to Ella Ricci who graduated from Galena High School with a 4.5 GPA and to Annabella Laird who graduated from Reed High School with a 4.1 GPA. Both recipients will attend the University of Nevada, Reno. Their pictures are with this article.

Dear Board Members, Volunteers:
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each of you for your hard work and dedication in making our first annual End of Summer Gelato Party such a success. It was a lovely turnout, and thanks to everyone’s efforts, we not only made a few dollars with the raffle but also gained two new members, with more to gain on the horizon.
Your commitment, teamwork and willingness
The Sacramento Lodge has been very busy these past several months. In May our lodge members brought in their favorite dishes for a delicious Potluck, and then we played Bingo. Congratulations to our lucky Bingo winners: Mike Alfidi, Jane Arakaki, Sue Botti, Terry Corcoran, and Susan Watson.
In June, Terry Corcoran and Danny Marinelli prepared an excellent dinner of BBQ ribs, beans, vegetables, salads, and dessert. We hosted our two 2025 Scholarship Recipients: Jada Dwyre who
