OSIACA News
Here’s hoping everyone has had a happy summer. Fall is approaching rapidly with its beautiful fall colors and cooler weather. School is back in session, and the holidays will soon be here again.
The Northern Solano Lodge has been very busy. In July and August, Charlene Ping spearheaded our annual School Supply Drive for the Tolenas Academy of Music and Media in Fairfield. Charlene, Sandy Reece, Kay Locatelli and Rosemary Archer delivered 32 boxes of supplies along with muffins, brownies and chocolate chip cookies to the school. The school’s teachers were very excited to add their new supplies to their classrooms! Our lodge members’ commitment to students and teachers in our area is truly commendable.
Also, this last month we enjoyed our annual Gene Bruno Picnic held at the Bocce Courts near the Fairfield Recreation Center. Beginners as well as seasoned players enjoyed playing or simply watching and rooting everyone on. Of course, no picnic is complete without food. Lodge members supplied appetizers, sides and salads, and our cooks, Rory Nichols and Frank Mossa, did the BBQing. Joy Bruno supplied a delicious cake in her husband’s honor. Did I mention the weather was perfect? We really lucked out!
Our next big event will be our Columbus Day Dinner Celebration on Saturday, October 18th. Dinner will include appetizers, salad, pasta, shrimp and dessert. As in the past we will have a basket raffle, silent auction and a dessert auction. We will even have entertainment with Ron Borelli, a talented accordionist. Everyone is looking forward to a fun evening. It’s a lot of work, but well worth it!
