Roma Lodge members would like to give a shout out to IL Leone editor in chief, Anna Galbo- Graeber.  Each month we share the online version of the edition to our members for those who prefer to receive our newsletter by email.  We want to congratulate Anna on changing the format of the IL Leone and all the contributors from local lodges who share their activities each month.  If you have not done so we suggest you go to the Grand Lodge website Order Sons of Italy California > Il Leone and download the latest issue.  Research has shown that only 24% of adults get their news from printed publications in 2024.  Online seems to be the wave of the future.

How many of us have heard a fellow lodge member say, “I’m too old to do this anymore” when it comes to doing a lodge activity.  On September 15th Al Berra turned 85 years old. Since it was his birthday month he stepped forward and provided dinner for Roma Lodge members at the September meeting.  Along with daughter Sally Berra-Scalia and daughter-in-law Lora Bunch-Berra they provided a wonderful meal of pull-pork sandwiches, salads and desserts enjoyed by all.  Al is a 53-year member of the lodge, retired Orthodontist, bank director and still farms in conjunction with his two sons, Bert and Tony Berra. Roma Lodge members want to thank Al and the Berra Family for stepping forward as active members of the lodge.

Make Columbus Great Again!

Roma Lodge will be having their 87th annual ravioli dinner on Saturday, October 11th during Columbus Day weekend.  This will be our 87th year we have had a ravioli dinner in which we showcase our Italian Culture to the Tulare Community.  The City of Tulare has declared October as Italian Heritage month and what better way to celebrate our heritage than inviting the community to enjoy some great Italian food.  Our members decided we need to bring back the importance of Columbus and his importance to the history of our nation.  The event will be held on October 11th and we have invited our community to participate in our Columbus weekend dinner.
