OSIACA News
It’s with much sadness that before I write the article about our United Lodges Columbus Day Dinner, I speak of the sudden passing of State Orator Manny Finazzo. He will be very much missed by all. We, of United Lodges of Southern California, were honored to have him represent our State President, Barbara Wisniewski at our Columbus Day Dinner. On behalf of the officers and member lodges of the United Lodges of Southern California offer our heartfelt fraternal prayers and condolences to the Finazzo family. On Sunday, October 9th, United Lodges celebrated Columbus Day with a dinner attended by our member lodges and guests. Prior to the dinner, a short meeting chaired by President Michael DiGiuro was held. President DiGiuro then introduced State Orator Manny Finazzo, who spoke about the pending sale of the Grand Lodge building and the work is done in preparation of a move. Brother Finazzo then spoke on Columbus and the ongoing work the Order is doing to keep Columbus Day and the importance of our Italian Heritage and Culture. Following Brother Finazzo’s comments, dinner was served. A Pasta Dinner with garlic bread from Guiliano’s of Gardena was served along with salad, coffee or tea and spumoni ice cream wedges and cookies. Those attending enjoyed an afternoon of socializing. Although this year, as we regroup following the pandemic, was a low-key celebration, we look forward to next year to one bigger and better.
