OSIACA News
Hello from Redding:
We just held our annual two night Crab Feed. We were late getting tickets ready to sell this year because of the delays of opening to the commercial crab season, but were sold out in seven days after tickets were finally available.
The clam chowder is always a crowd pleaser and the crab was fresh and plentiful. The raffle baskets were beautiful and our bar was very busy, leading us to a very successful event. Thank you to our great chairmen Paul Monette and Jim Nobili.
We were happy to have our State Deputy John Jefsen there on Friday night along with many Chico Lodge members. Our State Vice President of the North, Louie Lodi was also there.
At our general meeting on February 20th, we initiated seven new members. They are Ryan Prins, Dennis Compomizzo, Pat Gardetto, Peter Facca, Camille Erickson, Lorna Manuel and Michael Scalmanini.
We also elected delegates to the State Convention in June, President Jim Nobili, Vice President John DiMatteo and Trustee Bob Gullixson
Next up is our St. Patrick’s dinner on March 11th. The Club Cougar Orchestra (Foothill H.S. Jazz Band) We will be serving lunch for the Veterans “Welcome Home Vietnam Vets” lunch on March 25th . It has been a couple of years off because of the Covid pandemic.
On April 2nd our landlords, the Redding Grange, will host their annual Spaghetti Feed fundraiser for their scholarship fund. They will also be raffling off a variety of items and baskets.
We will be back playing in our bocce leagues in April and May, with open play on Monday mornings when the weather allows.
After a few date conflicts our Anniversary Party is now confirmed for Friday, April 28 th and the theme is “I Left My Heart in San Francisco”.
