OSIACA News
Fall is finally ready to make an appearance even though October has still had a number of 100-degree days. Fortunately, the cool weather is coming back.
We have had a busy few months. August was our annual Gene Bruno Picnic and Bocce Games. Forty enthusiastic players enjoyed playing and, of course, eating. Cooks Frank Mossa and Rory Nichols outdid themselves, and Joy Bruno supplied a delicious cake to honor her husband’s memory. Lodge President, Mark Rossi, thanked everyone who helped make this event so successful and fun.
September was a relatively quiet month. The highlight of our monthly meeting was a presentation by Ann and Mark Sievers, owners of Il Fiorello Olive Oil Company. They explained how they process olives into their Award-Winning oil. They even brought samples for all and taught us how to properly taste their oil. They invited our lodge to do a tour of their facility. It was truly an enlightening presentation.
October, so far, has proved to be a busy month as we prepare for our Columbus Day Celebration on October 12th. Lauretta Graham and Angie Cazersa are preparing and decorating raffle baskets and organizing silent auction items. Our talented cooks are also preparing some delicious cakes for a dessert auction. Shari Crawford, a very talented accordionist, will provide music for the evening. We are all anticipating this event.
I am happy to report that the Columbus dinner was a huge success! Our treasurer is definitely smiling after tabulating the proceeds of our celebration which will benefit the scholarship program and other charities we support. We hope everyone had a Happy Columbus Day and are looking forward to a happy holiday season.
