OSIACA News
Greetings from Redding,
We had our great Paesano Days event on September 13th and 14th. It was nice seeing our State Second Vice President Louie Lodi and Londi. He “sang for his supper” and received $140 in tips which he donated to our scholarship fund. Thank you Louie. We were very pleased to have Shasta Classics car club join us with a car show on Saturday with almost 180 cars. Our Bocce tournament was filled with 32 teams and had a great finale into the night on Saturday. The Raffle Girls did a great job and with the raffle and silent auction, made a great profit.
And the food….we served over 890 dinners on Friday night and sold out almost all the sandwiches and pasta bowls from the food court by about 3pm on Saturday. And the garlic bread made in our new propane convection oven was a BIG hit.
Kudos to John Tasello for once again taking on this daunting task chairing Paesano Days.
Next up we hosted Wings of Angels on October 19th for their 18th annual pasta feed fundraiser. And then on November 9th we will hold our members annual Thanksgiving/Memorial Dinner. We honor our deceased members and all proceeds of the dinner go to our scholarship fund. Christmas and after Christmas catering events are up next. Our annual Crab Feed is scheduled the second weekend of February, the weather and ocean willing.
In the midst of Paesano Days preparation we had the rest of our roof put on the large hall of our building. Thanks to our Landlords, the Redding Grange for help, we now have a new roof, a new ice machine, and a new propane oven in 2024. Good work members.
We do have a raffle in the works for a cord of oak firewood donated by our new member Gary Memeo. Tickets are $20 and only 100 will be sold. Hopefully we will be sold out and able to draw a winner at our Thanksgiving dinner.
We started nominations for new officers at our October meeting. We are hoping to fill all the council positions and have a new appointed historian by 2025.
We had two former junior members get married recently, Morgan Giacomelli married Emily in late September. A week later Jessica Toombs married Bailey Odell. Our Mistress of Ceremonies Telly Vinci showed off a beautiful engagement ring at our last council meeting, too. Congratulations members.
We wish you all a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving.
Ciao
