Our March meeting had a great member attendance. We had further discussions on a new day, time and location. The members voted for the first Thursday of the month. Our April meeting will be held on Thursday, April 6th with cocktails from 4:30pm - 5:30pm, meeting at 5:30pm followed by dinner at 6:00pm. Our Lodge has seen a series of changes in the first months of 2023! Among these charges were a new day, time and location for our monthly meetings. I was asked to submit monthly article to the IL Leone and if any Sisters or Brothers have any news to share, please contact me. I definitely have big shoes to fill following Ernie Giono’s tenure as President for the past 3 years. A thank you gift was presented to Ernie for his dedication and support. Ernie organized our annual crab feeds which raised funds enabling us to present scholarships to deserving students and send donations to several charities.

This magnificent season of our lodge is evaporating fast, a lot faster than the epic amounts of snow that we have received this year! That snow has lifted us out of one of our burdens, namely, the devastating drought we were embroiled in. Also seemingly gone is the fear and severity of the Covid epidemic. Which nearly wiped out our Lodge.

Eureka Lodge member Ryan Bisio, head coach of the College of the Redwoods basketball team, has been voted state coach of the year for Northern California by the California Community College Men’s Basketball Coaches Association. Bisio calls his coaching style eclectic and for the third season in a row Bisio guided the team to the junior college playoffs.

I was unable to attend the Grand Council but thank goodness for Zoom. I was able to participate in the discussions and be a part of the action while being able to be home helping my husband. Moving into the 21st century is certainly making life easier. I can’t thank our First Vice President, Pauline Richmond enough for helping lead the Council meeting. Anna Graeber, thank you for connecting me on Zoom. Thank you, President Steve Guthrie, of the Centinela Valley Lodge, Annette Porter, and Brian Singuglia for putting us up and your help in setting up and getting food for our Council and guests.
