Spring is trying to push through in Siskiyou County. Daffodils bloom amid snow showers, highs are in the 50’s and 60’s with lows in the 20’s and 30’s, and studded tire use will soon end! We’re looking forward to some warmer weather. We have happily been busy the last few months. Our Crab Feed was well attended for the first sit-down dinner of the year. Our crowd enjoyed a tasty meal and good times with friends and family. “Girls (and boys) just wanna’ have fun!” In fact, Louie Lodi, State Third Vice-President, attended

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

It was a beautiful, crisp Saturday morning, perfect for being outside and giving back to the community. On March 25, 2023 the American Heart Association held their annual Inland Empire Heart & Stroke Walk. This signature fund raising event had an attendance of 950 plus participants raising over $180,000. Cristoforo Colombo Lodge #1534

We have finally seen the end of the snow and rain. It lasted from mid-December until the beginning of April. It’s been a long, wet winter.

We have a very busy first several months of the year. We have our Festa Primavera which is our big fundraiser in May, we have added some new social events, and have a lot of new officers on our board.

In January 2023, we installed our new officers. Some long-time officers were finally able to retire, and new blood is here. Pamela Ricci,

Birth Defects Check Presentation at Stanford

On Friday, March 24, donor members of the Sons and Daughters of Italy met in Palo Alto at the Center for Academic Medicine to present a check in the amount of $4000 to Stanford’s Lucile Packard Children’s Foundation on behalf of the Western Foundation Birth Defects Program. We were thrilled to donate to the world-class Children’s Genetics Program at Stanford, a true place of healing and love for sick children.

Hanford Lodge #1543

Pat Scialo and Jackie Giacomazzi pose after cleaning up after the March meeting of the Hanford Lodge. The two were chairpersons of the refreshment committee and provided for a very “green” refreshment table consisting of green wraps, green jello salad and green garden salad with all the trimming. Hanford is in charge of the United Lodges of the San Joaquin Valley meeting on Sunday, March 12, to be held in Lemoore, CA. The Lodge is also planning an outing to the Chaffee Zoo in Fresno in May and a BBQ in June. Happy Easter and Spring. (if it ever stops raining)!!!
