Shasta Lodge Lodge #2453

Hello from Redding,

Shasta Lodge is very sad to announce the passing of Jim Lamanna.  Jim joined Shasta Lodge in April 1980, just two months after Shasta Lodge 2453 received our charter, and has been a member ever since.  Jim was President of Shasta Lodge for 12 years and then again for a short period when our President resigned.  Jim was our Orator until recently, when his health made it hard for him to attend the meetings.  Jim also served the Grand Lodge as State Trustee of the North for two years.  He was State Deputy for many years to Weed Lodge, Vincenzo Bellini Lodge in Chico, CA, and Camelia-Colombo Lodge in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Jim was also active in the Asphalt Cowboys and served as their Top-hand for a year.  He had a long career with the City of Redding.  He and Tina were always very active in our lodge and our community.  Tina passed in December of last year.  Jim is survived by his daughter Cara Lamanna Schuler and son-in-law Jeff Schuler.  Cara has let us know that there may be a Celebration of Life for Jim in the late fall this year.     May you rest in peace Jim.

We are all getting prepared for out second big event of the year, Paesano Days, on September 13th and 14th.  We are very happy to say that we have the return of garlic bread this year thanks to a very generous donation from a friend from the Redding community.  He also was responsible for our new ice machine.  Thank you to him for his generous contributions.

The bocce tournament is already full.  We have been shopping for a new Italian Sausage for the Saturday sausage sandwiches and after many samples, our Chair John Tasello has found a good one.  Hope some of you will be able to join us for a great spaghetti dinner on Friday night then a sausage or meatball sandwich on Saturday.  And of course, it wouldn’t be Paesano Days without the cannoli.  We also hope to have a good selection of vendors and crafters available.

We had a nice thunder storm yesterday with quite a downpour of rain.  While we hope it doesn’t rain on our event, we are hoping for some cooler weather.

Ciao,

Your friends from Shasta Lodge
