GREETINGS FROM REDDING,
December has been a busy month for Shasta Lodge. We started the month with our annual council dinner prepared by Chef James Leedy and his culinary students. What a great group of students. They are preparing for an international culinary competition in April. We then catered two large Christmas parties. We will be hosting the Redding Police Explorers at their annual dinner later in January.

The Crab are here…we have scheduled our annual Crab Feed for February 11th and 12th. We were about 2/3 sold out on the first day of ticket sales. If you are interested in attending please give John DiMatteo a call at 530-215-1333, leave a message and he or Cheryl will return your call.

Following our Crab Feed we will hold our annual St. Patrick’s dinner. We have decided to move our anniversary dinner from February to April when things slow down a bit. More information will follow.

Our favorite elf, Vice President John DiMatteo has been busy ringing bells for the Salvation Army. On December 19th he rang bells for nearly 10 hours and raised over $750. Other lodge members have also been our ringing bells in Redding, but we don’t have an accounting of all that has been raised yet.

Our Chaplain Charlotte Bailey was responsible for getting over 3900 wreaths fluffed and ready to be placed on headstones at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery. Some of our members were on hand to help and will help in January when they are removed and stored for next year.

We are all sad at the passing of our lodge sister Jean Russell. Very unexpected to our vibrant, active member and friend. Jean served on council for about five years with plans to run again in 2022. Rest in peace our friend. You are missed and loved.

We wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.
Your friends at Shasta Lodge.
