Hello from Redding,
Shasta Lodge continues to be busy. On November 11th, we held our annual Thanksgiving Memorial dinner. This dinner honors our deceased members, and also Veterans. The dinner is prepared and served by the council members. Thanks to Terri Watson and Charlotte Bailey for helping, too. Following a very nice Memorial Service by our President Jim Nobili and Chaplain Charlotte Bailey, we served about 110 people a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. What a great chance we had to visit with some member who we don’t see too often. We were also joined by the President of Chico Lodge, Tony George, and the Azaritos from Chico. All the money raised at this dinner goes to our scholarship fund and this year we raised over two thousand dollars. Thanks to all who helped and also made contributions.
We are now preparing to decorate the lodge for Christmas. Some of our ladies were at the lodge during the rain storm last weekend making wine cork Christmas trees for centerpieces and garland for one of our trees. Thanks to the crafty ladies, they did a great job.
Our Vice President John DiMatteo has barrels out for toys to help Stuff the Bus for the Salvation Army and also for donations to their food drive. We filled both barrels at our general meeting and I’m sure a lot more will come in December. John is also spearheading our lodge bell ringing for the Salvation Army. He is often seen ringing bells and will have a little competition for about eight hours one day in December against the Director of the Salvation Army in Redding.
We are already making plans for our Crab Feed in February. The season is not open yet, but we anticipate a good harvest by February.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas, from your friends at Shasta Lodge.
