Shasta Lodge held our 42nd anniversary party in April. We celebrated with our Most Honored Members from 2019 Leonard Duz, 2020 Steve Delben and 2021 Gerry Carroll. They each received a plaque and a gift certificate for a dinner at Outback Steakhouse. We also read the names of the 25 year member Jim Nobili, Rose Nobili, Mauna Stockton, Jim Tomasin and Jim Tumino.
Our tri-tip for the dinner was prepared by our lodge guys, Jim Giacomelli, Paul Monette, John DiMatteo and Doug Phelps. The rest of the food was prepared by Chef James and his Enterprise High School culinary students. Ann Baxter, the cheerleader coach at Shasta High School and several of her cheerleaders helped with serving and bussed the tables. Our lodge gave a generous contribution to each of the groups. Chef James took his students to Florida a few days later and they participated in an International competition. The won 3rd place in the appetizer division out of 75 teams. Congratulations to these great students.
A few weeks later we catered a dinner for a celebration of life for a friend of Shasta Lodge. They had a very nice program to say goodbye to their beloved wife, mother and friend.
Everything is going well with the three bocce leagues. The senior league of eight teams plays on Wednesday mornings, the two person team league of 16 teams plays Wednesday evenings, and the four person team league of 16 teams plays on Thursday evenings. The leagues end with playoffs on June 2nd.
At our general meeting in May, we presented two $1500 scholarships. Sierra Anderson has been a junior member for many years. She attended Shasta High School and will attend Shasta College in the fall where she will be studying for a degree in physical therapy. Camille Erickson is the granddaughter of Pat and Pam Karch. She attended Foothill High School and she too will attend Shasta College to start her education to eventually become a medical doctor.
Our lodge has been saving the pull tabs from all types of cans for quite some time. A few weeks ago we presented a large tub of pull tabs plus several more jars to Gary Moore. Gary’s grandson was born with spina bifada and his mother takes him to Portland Oregon several time a year for treatment. She is able to use the tabs to help cover her cost of staying at the Ronald McDonald house on those trips. Thanks to our guys for chairing a Mexican Fiesta for our potluck at the May general meeting. We had lots of great food.
We wish all you dads and grandfathers a Happy Father’s Day. Ciao from your friends at Shasta Lodge.
