The celebration of Eureka Lodge’s 100 th anniversary at the Wharfinger Building overlooking the Eureka city marina on Humboldt Bay was a fun and successful event.
Thanks to Grand President Arlene Nunziati and past Grand President and past National President Vera Girolami for driving up to Eureka to celebrate with over 90 members and guests on March 23rd .
Betty and Gene Senestraro were honored for their outstanding contributions to the welfare and success of the Eureka Lodge during the past 27 years.
Our centennial celebration will continue throughout 2024 with historical displays, lectures and interviews at various museums, on public access television, and on our Facebook page recalling the Italian-American experience in Humboldt County.
Lodge member Evo Fanuchi is this year’s Grand Marshal of the annual Eureka Rhododendron Festival Parade on April 27th . Evo celebrated his 103 rd birthday last September. A WWII veteran of the Pacific theater, Evo and his family played a pivotal role in the Italian American community in Eureka, He is also celebrated for having led the revitalization of Eureka’s Old Town tourist district in the late 1970’s and 1980’s. Businessman, restaurateur, carpenter, contractor, real estate magnate, historian, raconteur, and bar tender, Evo has done a little bit of it all during his lifetime in Eureka. This recognition is well deserved.
Our next meeting will be our Pinochi/Stagnoli scholarship potluck on May 28th beginning with a social hour at 4:30PM with dinner and introductions of our scholarship winners to follow at 5:30PM.
