Eureka Lodge #1274

The Humboldt Crabs Italian Heritage night baseball game proved to be a big success. The Crabs won, our Lodge sold some merchandise and all of the homemade biscotti, and we handed out two dozen application forms. In addition to the positive publicity the non-profit Crabs Baseball Club profited by increased attendance and the sale of sausage sandwiches donated to the Crabs by the Eureka Lodge.

Our scholarship recipients and their families attended our May meeting pasta dinner. Gabriela Giraud, Jude Ortega, and Cicely Jones received their hard earned recognition for winning the Irene and Paul Pinochi and Frank Stagnoli college scholarships. All three graduated from McKinleyville High School.

Many thanks to Dianne Luzzi, our scholarship screening committee chair, for her many years of service. She is retiring from the committee this year. Gene Perricelli was nominated and elected as the new chair by voice vote of the Lodge.

Our next meeting will be on September 27th with a potluck beginning at 5PM.

The Northcoast Veterans Standdown will quickly follow on the weekend of Oct 1st and 2nd. Please volunteer to help provide these deserving veterans with a fine Italian dinner prepared by the Eureka Lodge by calling Dave Olivieri at 707-444-3407.
