There are all kinds of songs and odes to summer; the joys, the fun, the pursuit of fireflies on a lovely evening, etc., etc! Nobody who lives in our desert wrote any of them! Perhaps some wrote songs or odes lamenting the lack thereof! But once again I’m writing to say that changes are coming. A sign of that is our doors open October 12! It signals the joy that our lovely falls are about to begin, and perhaps you’ll have the opportunity to play a round of golf without the danger of heat stroke. WHICH BRINGS ME TO A POINT!
Our third annual golf tournament is just over the horizon. Tee off is Monday, November 14, 2022. AND THAT MEANS IT’S TIME TO GET IN ON THE FUN, AND FOR YOU TO ENTER OUR TOURNAMENT NOW! ALSO IN THE THIRD YEAR IS OUR ITALIAN BUFFET, IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE GOLF TOURNAMENT. In the pages of this edition of the Il Leone is an application for the tournament, buffet and Tee Sponsors.
The tournament is played at the Indian Canyon Golf Resort, which is a lovely course offering beautiful vistas of our surrounding mountains. For those of you coming, and there are more of you every year, to play in the tournament for the first time, you’re in for quite a treat. It’s a relaxed environment, and our locals are a fun bunch, but hard to beat so bring your best game!
As I said above we’re opening Wednesday October 12th, and for as long as I can remember, our always fabulous Frank DiSalvo will once again be kicking of the season with a bang! So look for Lori Harvey to be giving you a call soon to check if you’re coming. If you don’t hear from Lori, or are new to our Lodge give her a call at 760 360 6255.
Our luck with our weekly entertainment program is amazing! We’re so lucky in addition to having Frank DI Salvo opening, to have Michael D’Angelo back on second Wednesdays and Larry Capeloto back on third Wednesdays. Doesn’t get any better my friends. Might even have Mr. Entertainment Larry Del Rose back for a show next year! Don’t forget each entertainer occasionally brings guest entertainers to perform with them.
And our volunteer staff will be back largely intact, as Renee most likely will not be moving to Las Vegas. So all in all I think we’re off to a brilliant season with our President Joe LaPorta still at the helm. As always should you have any questions regarding the tournament or the Lodge just call Joe at 760 219 9171. Our friends and fellow members, Rose Kingsley and Norm Miller, moved this summer to Las Vegas, closer to the clubs she is now doing more and more shows at. They will however be doing a show here, “Rose Kingsley Sings Sinatra..Her Way”, October 15th at 7:30 pm. Our own Larry Capeloto will be their opening act with his comedy routine. Tickets are $35.00 and the show is at Ohav Shalom Messanic Congregation, 35688 Cathedral Canyon Dr., Cathedral City 92234. Call Norm Miller at 760 895 0450 with questions and for information.
