Hi Brothers and Sisters: I am so sorry to report that I have been lax in getting information about the Hanford Lodge to the Il Leone. After Christmas, I thought I had sent a message, but the Editors of the Il Leone did not print it, so I guess they did not get it!!! So, I am now reporting on our “drive-thru” Christmas Party for our Junior Members, which is a little late to say the least!!!

On December 13,2020, the Junior Members of the Hanford Lodge were treated to Christmas stockings filled with lots of goodies and also a monetary gift from the Lodge.

Over 20 stockings were filled by older Junior Members, Gianna and Giiulia Fernandez, while “elves” Miro and Gio Giacomazzi, along with their Nanna Jackie Giacomazzi and parents, Dino and Julie, welcomed cars driven by parents and grandparents into their driveway to deliver the goodies. Drivers were

As in 2020 our 97th anniversary dinner and celebration usually held in March has been postponed.

Victor Zampatti served as our first Lodge President and John Salizzoni serves as our President now. Eureka Lodge is nearing the 60th anniversary of its hosting of the 1963 California Grand Lodge convention.

Eureka #1274 is the 4th oldest lodge still in existence in California. We are nearing our 100th celebration on March 16th, 2024.

Speaking of one hundred years our member Evo Fanucchi celebrated his 100th birthday on September 22nd 2020. We were not able to celebrate with him due to the pandemic.

Long time owner of Roy’s Restaurant and other properties in Old Town Eureka he has lived through most of the most interesting

A Message from the State President

One month into the New Year, 2021 and we are slowly getting thru this pandemic; at least we are seeing a dim light at the end of the tunnel. Vaccine distribution is on its way, even though slow we are getting close. Keep the positive thoughts there. Just imagine what the people of 1918 were thinking compared to what we have to day. STAY POSITIVE!!

It is nice to hear Lodges are still trying to stay in touch with their members. The drive thru dinners many lodges are doing seem to be successful and even though we do not see that smiling face thru that mask, I am sure it is under there. Many lodges are using Zoom for their get together

A Message from the State 1st Vice President

I want to congratulate our Lodge Presidents who are setting up either all Zoom or Hybrid meetings. Some of our Lodges are doing take out/drive by dinners to keep in touch and to do fundraising during this time. There is one Lodge that is doing a “Dining on Zoom” meeting twice a month. They pick a type of food and everyone makes it. Then they spend an hour eating and socializing. If you don’t make the meal you can still socialize. It is a wonderful way to keep in touch safely. All our Lodges are doing a great job of keeping in touch with our members.

We have just celebrated Valentine’s Day. Here are some fun facts about the history of this day. This day is celebrated in Italy but didn’t start with Saint Valentine it began about eight hundred years before he was born. Valentine’s day history has its roots in ancient Roman culture
