Greetings from Redding,

It has been a few months since our last article, but like most other lodges we have not had any meetings or social events. We are very fortunate in Redding that we have not had any fires near us, just the smoke. We are also fortunate that as far as we know none of our members has had Covid 19.

In February, Shasta Lodge initiated three new members, Nancy Wright, Mary Vassil, and Telly Vinci. We welcome them to our lodge and hope to get acquainted with them when we are able to meet again.

In April we lost two of our long time members, Ray Vasconcellos and Larry Hughes.

While we have not presented our scholarship awards in person, Shasta Lodge gave four $1000 scholarships. Alyssa Brown and Austin Brown both attend Cal State Fullerton. Jenna Bosetti will be attending McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Zoe Karch is studying at Skidmore College in Syracuse, NY.

Thanks to Sharon Roberts and Gerry Carroll, we are playing some bocce on Monday mornings, usually about 12-16 players show up. The bocce is on our courts at South City Park and is often followed by breakfast at a local restaurant for those that want to go. It is nice to see our friends where we can actually visit with them in person.

There is still some work going on around the building, our parking area that is paved has been repaired and resealed. Work inside our building included some ceiling repairs and some painting. And there are those that have been doing the never ending work of weed control around the outside of building.

Our council meetings continue for those who wish to attend, with social distancing. This being an election year, we will try to have a general meeting in October for nominations of new officers.

We hope each of you is staying safe and healthy.

Your friends at Shasta Lodge
