There are no “loopholes” in the tax laws; the laws read the way they do because that is how our legislatures and the congress want them to read.

Last month (March) we met at Luna’s for a family style dinner, but this article is being written before we met. We are not doing any worse (meetings wise) since we are not paying Notre Dame their usual rental fees, but we are still getting that great food at Luna’s, plus the members that show up are great company to have a meal with.
This month (April): I can’t say where we will meet for our April 18th or 19th meeting; Isabel will make the calls to alert you for time and place.

Mysteries we live with: Drinking and driving are illegal, yet bars and saloons maintain parking lots(?).
National Scholarships are again being offered; check this issue of Il Leone for details.

Our ancestors in the Roman Army were partially trained, in full battle gear, with a one-hundred-foot-long obstacle course of squares in which the trainee had to hop through to build up strength and endurance. This was a precursor of the current children’s game of Hopscotch, which in its day was called hop-scratch, hop-score, and scotch-hopping. Hop meant jumping on one leg, and scotch meant a line scratched into the ground.
