And so … Happy new year to everyone; let’s see if this year can be better than the old. A job well done is a job done.

AARP tells us that the Flu shots give us a 20% better advantage over heart disease events per year compared to those folks not getting the shots. Schedule your shots now.

For those that are aware that our articles have been missing these past few months, the fault is being reviewed by the staff at Grand Lodge. The problem is not with your local lodge, but I do apologize on behalf of Il Leone; other lodges in the Central Valley are having the same experience.

Reminder: Our meetings are now back onto our regular schedule of the first Wednesday of the month at 6:00 PM at Luna’s on Pollasky Ave. in Clovis. No “warning” phone calls will be provided, so put these events on your calendar. Last month we had a good show of diners, so Luna’s is putting us back into our private room. Cooking with wine is fun … you can even add it to the food.

The Central Valley lodge had a good showing for this past December meeting; Clovis’s lodge had five members in attendance. It was mentioned that this year’s convention will be in Concord in late June. If you have children/grandchildren, Brian announced his prospective program for them. It takes a lot of heart to shape a mind; help your child to get in shape: check this issue of Il Leone for Grand Lodge and National information regarding available scholarships. Say it in Italian: “Non mangiare erba di fronte a una mucca che muore di fame”, or, do not eat grass in front of a starving cow. If your mother says this to you, she is saying you should be nicer to your friends.
