Cindy Bellini Williams, an actress and producer, who played sweet wide-eyed Shirley Feeney on “Laverne & Shirley, died on January 25.
Williams was born on August 22, 1947 in Van Nuys, California. Her father Bill Williams, hailed from Texas and her mother, Francesca Bellini was Italian American. Williams had credits spawning six decades, but it was her role on “Laverne & Shirley that endeared her to millions and made her a household name. Along with her friend Laverne Defazio, played by actress Penny Marshall, whose real name was Carole Penelope Masciarelli, the two first appeared in the famous series, ”Happy Days.” Their characters became so popular that a spin-off was created around them.
Cindy was a beloved member of OSDIA, and a proud member of the Hollywood Lodge until it closed, she then was given the notable title of “Honorary Member.”
In 2003 she was honored by the Grand Lodge of California at the 4th Annual Humanitarian & Leadership Awards Charity Gala. In 2006 at the Gala she was the Mistress of Ceremony and held that role for many subsequent Galas. At the San Francisco Italian Heritage Parade in 2004 she was the Grand Marshall.
Cindy is survived by her loving children, Zak & Emily Hudson. We will miss her.
