Message From the State Third Vice President

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

First off, some people have asked me where my IL Leone article was last month. I must apologize as I spent a little too much time in that 100-degree weather and it knocked me for a loop, but I am recovered now.

Our Grand Council Meeting in Fresno was very busy. We covered a lot of issues in the day and half but the most important was the selling of The Grand Lodge. I am happy to report that the company interested in the purchasing of The Grand Lodge is extremely anxious and optimistic to work with us.

After a long meeting on Saturday, we all traveled to the Fresno Fair Grounds where we attended the Columbo-Stella Lodge’s 100th Anniversary Celebration. Olivia Deliddo and company wooed everyone with their hospitality and raffle. What was so impressive was all the past scholarship recipients that attended, some as far back as forty years. They also gave us a wonderful tour of The Fresno Museum at the Fair Grounds where we were shown Italian exhibits and how Columbo-Stella Lodge played a big part in the history of Italians in the Fresno Valley. Again, thank you and congratulations to the Columbo-Stella Lodge #1149 on their 100th Anniversary!

On the 20th of September, Gold Country Lodge had their Summer Special Pizza Dinner from Viscuso’s Pizzeria. I am sure everyone had a good time. By the way, do not forget their Bocce Tournament on October 9th at Promontory Point Park in El Dorado Hills. For more information, call Anthony and Beverly Scotch at 916-425-3330.

Chico Lodge Vincenzo Bellini #2519 had their Western Foundation 23rd Golf Tournament on September 12th. Just like every previous year everyone had a great time with wonderful Golfing and fantastic raffle prizes. I wish I could have been there but unfortunately; I’ve been without a car for four months. Hopefully it will be done in Mid-October.

On October 24th I went to Santa Rosa Lodge #1898 for their luncheon at Mary’s Pizza. I am so pleased that they were able come together after all the Covid chaos. It was a great time and I got to meet more members.

Shasta Lodge #2453 had their Paesano Days on September 16th & 17th. Again, I wish I could have attended but I was at Grand Council in Fresno. I know that they had a fantastic turnout, and the weather was awesome. Someday I will get up there to play Bocce.

On October 8th the Northern Solano Lodge #2534 is having their Columbus Day Dinner which includes pasta, meatballs and all the fixings plus a raffle and Desert Auction. For more information, call Carol at 707-334-0611.

Cristoforo Columbo Lodge #1534 is celebrating Columbus Day in Reno the weekend of October 8th & 9th. Twenty thousand crazy Italians will be celebrating in the streets of Reno. Head up to Reno that weekend if you are looking to have some fun. Enjoy and celebrate our Italian Heritage this month and be proud of your Italian Culture and Membership in the Sons and Daughters of Italy.

Ciao for now,
Louie Lodi
