Around and About Still Safe from Covid

Following Italian Tradition, Katy Castro was named after her grandmothe Caterina Bellini. Katy’s mother, Regina, was born in Uzine, a town in the Friuli region of Nothern Italy. After Regina’s marriage to G.I. David Castro, they made a home in Pittsburg California. Now retired, Katy, a Colombo Lodge Trustee, devotes four days a week to picking up donated food from Safeway Stores personally delivering the goods to community food banks.

You have met Richard and Mary Lucido, the grandparents of the former Grand Lodge Queen “little” Mary Lucido. During the pandemic Richard and “Nana” Mary took time and energy to refurbish the front yard of their Antioch home. Working with a landscape designer, contractor and stone artist they created curb appeal par excellence.

Two women in one kitchen often means trouble. But these two women make it a joy! Carol Giannotti lives in Redwood City, California. Carol, age 97 is pictured visiting her daughter, Edna Esposito, Past President of C. Colombo Lodge. Seen above, the ladies are in the mood to make Italian cookies for the Mother’s Day family gathering, everybody vaccinated!!!

Despite the pandemic, weddings did play a part in lives of loving couples. Though planned for large ceremonies and receptions, many dreams became small and strictly for family. C. Colombo Lodge member Amelia Nevis and fiancee Cory Alvarado were wed in the intimate ocean front ceremony by her Godmother Pamela Mendoza, surrounded only by close family. Acting as an attendant was the Maiden of Honor, Giulietta, the Bride’s daughter. The newly weds are making their new home in Fresno.
